Ingredients

INGREDIENTS: Wheat Flour [Wheat Flour, Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin], Demerara Sugar, Sugar, Icing Sugar, Yeast, Salt, Ground Cinnamon.

Preparation and Usage

You will need: 85g soft unsalted butter, 1 medium egg, 175ml semi skimmed milk, 1 X 7" round tin, greased and lined

Method: Oven

To make the buns:    

Pre-heat the oven to 190°C/170°C Fan/Gas 5.                                                                                                                           
2. Empty the contents of the dough sachet into a bowl and add 50g butter, 1 egg and 170ml of lukewarm milk. 
3. Mix together by hand or use an electric mixer with dough hook attachment until fully combined. The dough will be very soft at this stage.
4. Knead the dough by hand for 10 minutes or 5 minutes with an electric mixer until it forms a smooth elastic dough.
5. Place in a bowl, cover and rest in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
6. Roll out a rectangle approximately 30cm by 20cm. Spread 30g of butter onto the dough and sprinkle over the cinnamon sugar. Roll up the long side forming a swiss roll style swirl.

7.Cut evenly into 8 pieces then place in the lined tin sideways on with one bun in the middle. Alternatively, to make a Christmas tree shaped bun, cut the rolled dough into 11 equal smaller swirls and form into a tree shape on a lined baking tray. Cover and rest in a warm place for a further 30 mins.

Uncover and place in the pre-heated oven for 25-30 mins until golden brown. 

8. Remove from the tin and allow to cool on a wire rack. 

To make the icing:
1. Add 1tsp cold milk and the remaining 5g butter to the icing mix and mix until smooth.

2. Drizzle over the cooled buns and serve.
