Clubcard - terms and conditions
The Clubcard terms and conditions are listed below, including our Data Protection statement. If you have any questions about these Clubcard terms and conditions, or need help understanding any part of this website, please call 1800 248 123.
The Scheme
- These terms and conditions are applicable across the entire Tesco Clubcard scheme and any participation is considered as acceptance. Additional terms and conditions may be in place for optional elements of the scheme, examples of which include, but are not limited to, Christmas savers, Club Membership and Clubcard Reward Partner orders. Members participating in the optional elements of the scheme will be considered as having accepted the additional terms and conditions.
- The Clubcard account, card, key fobs, coupons, vouchers and points, in whatever form, are issued by and remain the property of Tesco which may, at any time, terminate the scheme or alter or amend the conditions of operation of the scheme.
- All members of the scheme must be resident in the Republic of Ireland and aged 18 years or over.
- Members are only entitled to one Clubcard account each. Tesco reserves the right to refuse, merge or close additional accounts at any time.
- Members must register their personal details and keep Tesco informed of any changes. Tesco cannot be held responsible for any loss of points or vouchers incurred as a result of out of date details. New accounts that are not registered within two years of first being used and accounts with out of date details that have not been updated for two years will be removed and any points or vouchers forfeited.
- The Clubcard card, in whatever form, is not transferable, cannot be copied and can only be used by the member who is named and registered for the card. Clubcard key fobs may be used by anyone who is resident at the same registered address.
- Clubcard cards, key fobs, coupons, and vouchers remain the responsibility of the Clubcard member, as do any security details relating to the account. Tesco cannot be held responsible for any loss arising from the member failing to ensure the safekeeping of these items.
-
Tesco may decline to issue, withdraw or cancel Clubcard accounts, cards, key fobs, coupons, vouchers and points, in whatever form, and/or remove a member from the scheme at any time where there is reasonable belief of:
a. any abuse or attempted abuse of the scheme.
b. any breach or attempted breach of these terms and conditions and/or those relating to the optional elements of the scheme.
c. any behaviour relating to Clubcard or any entity within the Tesco Group that involves theft, misconduct, abusive or offensive behaviour, or supplying false or misleading information.
- Clubcard cards and key fobs can only be used for purchases from Tesco and promotional partners who are part of the scheme.
- The scheme is only for personal and consumer use. Clubcard cards and key fobs cannot be used for any business transaction or purpose.
- Clubcard accounts, cards, key fobs, coupons, points, and vouchers cannot be transferred, bought, sold or in any way traded.
- Two members who live at and have accounts registered at the same address may join their accounts together. When either member provides or updates information relating to the joint account, they must have the consent of the other member to do so and for us to use this information in accordance with the terms and conditions of the scheme. Tesco cannot be held responsible for any loss to either account member as a result of the other account member providing or updating information relating to the joint account. Joint accounts may be split into single accounts by either member and any points accrued will be divided based on the Clubcard card or key fobs with which they were originally earned. Tesco will take no responsibility for the allocation of vouchers that have already been issued.
- Members may be able to express a preference for their statement, and where we have their consent other Clubcard mailings, to be sent to their registered e-mail address. We will endeavour to respect this preference but reserve the right to send these to the member's registered postal address without prior notification to the member. This may be necessary for business or policy reasons or where there are problems with the registered email address provided by the member.
- Members can choose to leave the scheme at any time. By leaving the scheme members forfeit the right to any points or vouchers already accrued or issued.
- Members who do not collect any points for two years will be removed from the scheme and will need to reapply for new membership should they wish to rejoin.
Points
- Members must present their Clubcard card or key fob or Tesco app at the checkout in order to collect points for a transaction in store. Members who forget to do this may have their points added manually up to 14 days after the transaction upon production of a valid receipt, providing the receipt belongs to the claiming member and is based on their personal spend. Points may only be claimed for up to two receipts per day.
- Members will be required to quote their Clubcard number to collect points on purchases made through any catalogue, phone, partner, or online transaction.
- Points collected with Clubcard partners will be credited to the Clubcard member's account and converted separately to points collected elsewhere.
- Points collected on additional cards or key fobs linked to the main Clubcard member's account will be credited to that account.
- To be awarded points, members must spend above a certain amount on qualifying products in a Single transaction. The amount of points awarded may change and will vary depending on the products bought, the amount spent and where the transaction takes place. Full details of how points are awarded can be found in the Collect Points section of our website.
- Where points can be collected with partners, further terms and conditions may apply.
- Points will not be awarded for non-qualifying products i.e.: products purchased in coffee shops or restaurants, or for purchases of tobacco or tobacco related products, lottery tickets, savings or postage stamps, medicines, infant milk formula, alcohol, recyclable bags, gift cards, in store concessions, Paypoint payments, Delivery saver and DRS deposit fee. Points will not be awarded for transactions with a Great Britain or Northern Ireland Clubcard. Other products may also be excluded from the scheme at the discretion of Tesco.
- Members can earn a maximum of 30,000 (€300) points in any one collection period.
- Tesco may set a limit on the number of times points may be awarded for promotional items on which additional points are available. Individual promotions may have different limits as communicated in their purchase conditions. Any participation in promotional offers above and beyond what could objectively be considered consumer behaviour or personal use may be considered as abuse of the scheme.
- Tesco is entitled to remove points at any time if products are returned for any reason and a full or partial refund of the purchase price is given. This also applies to the exchange of products, unless the exchange is for products with an equivalent point's value.
- Points awarded at the time of the transaction or vouchers already issued may be removed or cancelled if Tesco determines that the points were collected in breach of these terms and conditions or were awarded in error. For the avoidance of doubt, any advice or actions of our staff that is contrary to these terms and conditions will not have the effect of changing these terms and conditions.
Points have no value until converted into vouchers at the end of the collection period or instantly on the Tesco app. The current conversion value of points is 1 point equals 1 cent. Except in the case of:
(a) fuel purchased at Certa Fuel Stations or Certa Home Heating Oil where one point will be awarded for every €2 spent.
(b) with Tesco Mobile where 2 points will be awarded for every €1 spend when you register your Clubcard with Tesco Mobile.
- Tesco is under no obligation to award Clubcard points for any reason outside of qualifying transactions.
- Members in the Republic of Ireland (ROI) are unable to collect points on purchases made in-store in Great Britain or Northern Ireland and members in Great Britain or Northern Ireland are unable to collect points on purchases made in-store in ROI.
(a) Double points promotion will run from 2 January to 31 January 2025 inclusive. Collect 2 points for every €1 spend on qualifying products in-store or online with your Clubcard. Online points will be awarded on online orders placed and delivered/collected within the stated validity date.
Vouchers
- Clubcard vouchers will be sent with a statement to members who have accumulated a combined total above the qualifying threshold by the end of each collection period. The current qualifying threshold is 250 points.
- Clubcard vouchers can also be requested between Clubcard statements via the Tesco app. A minimum of 150 points is needed to turn points into vouchers via the Tesco app. Once points are exchanged for instant vouchers the Clubcard statement will be switched from postal to email. See details of how to exchange points in seconds at: Requesting vouchers
- The value of Clubcard vouchers given by Tesco will be based on the number of points that a member has collected by the end of the last day of a collection period. Collection periods may vary.
- Points that cannot be converted into Clubcard vouchers because they are below the qualifying threshold or points that remain following conversion will be carried forward as the starting balance(s) for the next collection period. Carried forward points will expire after two years if the account has not been used within this period.
- Clubcard vouchers are valid for two years from date of issue and are accompanied by an expiry date, beyond which they cannot be used or reissued. Vouchers that are lost or mislaid may be reissued with the original expiry date, providing they have not previously been redeemed. Additional terms and conditions may be found on the back of the vouchers.
- Vouchers can be used once at their face value, in store, online at tesco.ie/groceries or alternatively, vouchers can be exchanged with a Tesco Clubcard Reward Partner.
- Clubcard vouchers and Bonus vouchers may not be used for non-qualifying products i.e.: products purchased in coffee shops or restaurants, or for purchases of tobacco or tobacco related products, lottery tickets, savings or postage stamps, medicines, infant milk formula, alcohol, recyclable bags, gift cards, in store concessions, Paypoint payments, Delivery saver and DRS deposit fee. Other products may also be excluded from the scheme at the discretion of Tesco.

Colleague Clubcard Scheme
- Eligibility: You are eligible for a Colleague Clubcard if you are a colleague on Tesco payroll, over the age of 16, with at least 3 months' continuous service.
- Second card: If you are an eligible colleague of Tesco Ireland Ltd, you can apply a second card for a family member, who is a relative, partner, civil partner, spouse or carer over 18 years old, living permanently at your address on company records. You are responsible for ensuring both cards are used in accordance with these terms and conditions and the Clubcard terms and conditions. Eligible Tesco colleagues employed by a group company other than Tesco Ireland Ltd are entitled to receive a Colleague Clubcard but are not entitled to a second card for a family member.
- The benefits: Each year from 1st April to 31st March you can get discount on your online shopping or in any Tesco store in ROI up to a maximum of €2,000. If you receive your first card part way through the year, your spend entitlement will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. If you are eligible for a second card, your joint annual discount remains at €2,000 maximum. You need to present your card to claim a discount. After this amount you can still use your card to earn Clubcard points. Please see point 5 for guidance on any discount restrictions.
- Clubcard points: Colleague Clubcard replaces your Clubcard for points on the value of transactions after deduction of the discount. If you have an existing Clubcard, please contact the Clubcard helpline on 1800 248 123 to transfer your Clubcard points to your Colleague Clubcard. You'll need your employee number, date of birth and payroll address.
- Restrictions: Colleague Clubcard can only be used by the person named on the card. Purchases must be for personal use. Items bought can be shared with friends or may be a gift, but the Colleague Clubcard discount must not be used to buy goods to sell or in exchange for payment. Discount and Clubcard points are awarded on all goods except for purchases made in the cafe/restaurant, petrol filling station or for purchases of any tobacco products, medicines, lottery, infant milk formulae products, gift vouchers, savings stamps, postage stamps or phonecards or any other goods restricted by law. Colleague Clubcard discount will apply to alcohol purchases, however Clubcard points will not apply. Other goods and services may be excluded from the scheme at the Company's discretion. For example, Colleague Clubcard holders under 18 cannot purchase alcohol. Tesco may disallow any transaction. Colleague Clubcard members in ROI who shop in Great Britain or Northern Ireland will not receive their Colleague Clubcard discount on their transactions there and Colleague Clubcard members in Great Britain or Northern Ireland who shop in ROI will not receive their Colleague Clubcard discount on their transactions here.
- Lost, stolen or damaged card: If a Colleague Clubcard is lost, damaged or stolen, you must immediately call the Clubcard Helpline on 1800 248 123. They will be able to cancel and replace your Colleague Clubcard. Replacement cards are normally received within 4 weeks of the request being made. If you haven't received your new Colleague Clubcard after 4 weeks, please speak to your Line Manager. While you're waiting for your new card to arrive, please hold all your receipts and when the new card arrives, give your receipts to your Line Manager, who will then organise to send all receipts and your new Colleague Clubcard number to the Colleague Clubcard Team. Any lost points and discount can be reclaimed.
- Change of name: If you wish to change your title or surname on the card e.g., getting married, you will need to provide your updated details to your Line Manager where your details can then be updated with payroll and a new card will be issued. If your wish to change the name of your second cardholder you must request a new card via OurTesco.ie
- Our right to make changes: We may discontinue the Colleague Clubcard Scheme or vary the terms and conditions, the discounts, benefits, or any entitlement. We will give you reasonable notice of any material change on OurTesco.ie. You should ensure we always have your up-to-date contact details. You are responsible for ensuring a second cardholder is informed of any changes.
- Leaving Tesco: If you leave Tesco, your entitlement to a Colleague Clubcard and any second card automatically ends. You must stop using and return all cards on your final day of employment. If you are eligible for a Colleague Clubcard for Life, you will be sent a new Colleague Clubcard after you have left. If you pass away, your partner will be entitled to a card for one year. Any Clubcard points on leaving can be transferred onto a standard Clubcard by phoning the Helpline on 1800 248 123
- Breaches: We take any abuse of the Colleague Clubcard Scheme very seriously. The Tesco Security Team may monitor the use of Colleague Clubcard and report suspicious activity. If you, or your second cardholder, breach the Colleague Clubcard terms and conditions, you and your family member may be disqualified from the scheme, and depending on the circumstances you may be liable to disciplinary procedures which could include summary dismissal.
- Other important information: Our Colleague Privacy Policy available on Colleague Help, describes how we may use your personal data obtained in connection with your Colleague Clubcard. Our Clubcard Terms and Conditions, available at Tesco.ie describe the Terms and Conditions of the Clubcard scheme and by using your Colleague Clubcard you also agree to these Terms and Conditions.
- Minimum Unit Pricing: Due to minimum unit pricing restrictions, you won't be able to use your colleague discount on any alcoholic products where your discount would take the price of the alcoholic product below the legal minimum. However, your colleague discount applies to the total basket price. This means that the full discount can still be applied as long as the overall price of your shopping basket (including non - alcoholic products) is above the minimum unit price of the alcohol you are purchasing.
